ADEUNIS RF presents VOKKERO at the ISOE International Symposium

ADEUNIS RF presents VOKKERO at the ISOE International Symposium

2012-05-10

ADEUNIS RF is the manufacturer of the VOKKERO® radio communication system; a tried and tested system used by nuclear power station maintenance teams to reduce their exposure time to ionising radiation thanks to reliable and secure communication.

It is perfectly legitimate therefore that we should be exhibitors at this 20th edition of the ISOE International Symposium (Information system on occupational exposure) due to take place on 20, 21 and 22 June this year in Prague. We will be presenting our latest innovations in terms of communication optimisation there.

For three days, radio protection, public service and international regulatory authority professionals will be meeting for a conference cycle and an exchange of experiences with a view to improving the safety of teams carrying out work on nuclear power stations.

As entry to the Symposium is restricted to registered visitors, we invite you to register by completing the form. We will be very pleased to meet you at stand 14.

First attempt, a masterstroke for Vokkero®!

First attempt, a masterstroke for Vokkero !

A major first on the other side of the Atlantic: full-scale tests with American Football referees.

More than just a sport, American football (and especially university football) is a religion in the United States. Extremely popular, tens of thousands of fans follow their teams each year and attend matches in gigantic stadiums that are among the biggest in the world. This is true of "Tiger Stadium" in Baton-Rouge in Louisiana, with a capacity of over 90,000 seats!

For the first time in ADEUNIS RF's history, it was in this prestigious context that on Saturday 31 March the Vokkero® refereeing system for up to 10 users was tested under real-life conditions. Explanations.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC), which includes 12 of the best American university teams, is considered as being the best university 'conference'. Even if the official season does not start until the beginning of September, the SEC is currently starting a series of test matches called 'Spring tests'. It was during the first of these that the SEC wanted to carry out a real-life test of the Vokkero® system.

This encounter was between two Division 1 teams from the prestigious Louisiana State University (LSU), extremely well-known among the general public. The Vokkero® radio communication systems were tested by one of the best university refereeing teams in the United States, directed by Tom Ritter, under the supervision of Steve Shaw, a former NFL referee, and Carl Johnson, Vice President of the NFL VP of Officiating. Adapted in advance to the specific requirements of American football (up to 9 officials on the field plus an additional assistant to come), the Vokkero® refereeing system was for the first time able to be used with more than 6 initial users.

The referees appreciated the support provided by Vokkero® and the tests proved extremely positive. Tom Ritter has already volunteered to extend these tests during next autumn's official matches. The SEC envisages multiplying the tests in the weeks to come and Carl Johnson intends turning his attention rapidly to a protocol to introduce the system to NFL referees!

Following this success, ADEUNIS RF and its American subsidiary ADEUNIS NA are already announcing tests in the very near future in other Division 1 conferences, and in particular in the "BIG 10".

Use of Vokkero by teams specialising in sealing bitumen roads

Use of Vokkero by teams specialising in sealing bitumen roads

The company Pittet-Chatelan SA, a Swiss subsidiary of the Colas Group, which has specialised in road surfacing for over 50 years throughout French-speaking Switzerland, has chosen the Vokkero® radio communication system in order to boost the safety of its teams when they are working on filling in cracks.

To successfully carry out this work, a 3-person team is required. The 1st person, in front of the melting machine, is in charge of the hot air pipe, while the other 2, who are positioned behind, respectively take care of the filling and sanding pipes.

The team members face the situation that even when they are in each others’ vicinity, it is impossible to speak normally due to a combination of the deafening noise coming from the melting machine (110 decibels) and road traffic noise. Under these circumstances, how can they warn each other of a movement of the machine or a hazard arising in the vicinity of the worksite?

The Vokkero® system was chosen as a response to these issues.

Indeed, using a system enabling instantaneous ongoing communication enables isolation to be broken down and the work to be carried out under completely safe conditions.

The patented noise filter provides optimal hearing quality and provides the assurance of dialogue that is clearly audible.

Lastly, its hands-free function enables users to speak instantaneously without handling the device, thereby enabling better concentration a their work stations.

The immediate advantages noted were an increase in the teams’ efficiency and output, and greater staff safety.
